Miami Heat- Home Opener Game Review

It is quite true that Hurricane sandy caused plenty of devastation, but who would ever thought that the real destruction of the defending champions Miami Heat would take place in the home opener game where New York Knicks used a hurricane of skills and agility to cause some serious damage to Miami Heat.

The defending champions didn't had much clue as they lost to the Knicks with a huge margin of 20 points, the Miami Heat seemed to have lost all its flame and never seemed to get anywhere close to the Knicks throughout the game. With an opening lead of 16 points the Knicks were in control from the start and never looked back from there, though the Heat put up a fight with 8 point run in the late third quarter but it was too little and too late. The fourth quarter also ended in Knicks favor as they outscored the Heat 23-21 beating them in a convincing manner.

There were few signs of brilliance from some Heat players, LeBron James the champion MVP star made 23 points along with 7 rebounds which included three blocks and five assists. But it was a disappointing show off from Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh that scored 15 and 12 points respectively. Now there are moments when the Miami Heat was shining and it looked like they might just hold on but Carmelo Anthony stood in their way. Anthony scored 30 points and held 10 boards to lead from the front, Raymond Felton also had an impressive comeback and together the entire team thrashed the Miami Heat to take the home opener.

There is always a game changer and the moment where Knicks leaped across the finish line was the devastating three-point shooting and a big turnover margin. The turnover battle that was also won by Knicks 21-14, throughout the night the Miami Heat struggled to get into any kind of rhythm and as a result got 13 field goal attempts. It almost seemed like the Knicks were competing with an old and tired Heat, they never look like the defending champions and crashed by the end of the night.

It is quite amazing that just some time ago, Heat was enjoying their championship reign with prestigious championship rings that were distributed among the players and the coaches by the NBA commissioner. With the latest ring and banner celebrationsit seemed that there would be no stopping the Miami Heat but no one expected the twisted ending where the Knicks would come on top leaving the champions stranded.

Heat has many things to work on before the arrival of their next matches;other players have to be equally participative like LeBron James because no matter how talented and skilled a player is it can't compete with an entire team. The fans are left disappointed after the home opener game but all is not lost as the defending champion's just need a one game to get their momentum back. All we can do is just wait and hope that the defending champions will how their true colors in the upcoming games.
