There are a few ways you can add and remove software from Windows. Via the control panel or alternatively the software itself may have a setup and uninstall option.

However, before adding software, you may want to consider checking the software system requirements. This will highlight what is required to run the software. For example, RAM and operating system required are two to check. Otherwise, you might find the software might not install or run. With DVD or CD usually the set-up will start for you after inserting. However, if not then you can use control panel and go to add remove programs. Then, select add new programs and then the CD/DVD option.

When installing, you will need to specify location. To do this place software in a familiar folders, and ensure that a start menu shortcut is included. Usually, an option will be available for this. Equally, you can select a short cut for the desktop if necessary. Various install settings may also be available. You may be able to manually configure certain options. However, it is to best to leave this if unsure.

When you are finished with the software, you may consider removing it. Again, there are a few ways you can remove software as well. It may be the case that the software has an uninstall option. If so, then it can be best to use this option for removing the software. If it is not the case, then usually Windows remove software is best. Here, Windows lists installed software that you can remove. Go to control panel, then add-remove software and remove. Select the software that you wish to remove and then uninstall option. The software will then be removed.

However, short cuts may be left behind. So check the desktop and start menu for these. If so, then you can delete them to Recycle Bin by right clicking and then delete. Empty the re-cycle bin as well.

Utility software can also remove software. Some have remove software options, which lists the software that can be removed. In addition a few extra features which identify recently added software, for example. So, you can use this as well.

Overall, you will find that Windows has a few ways you can add and remove software. Generally, remember to remove software as well as add, to ensure hard-disk space remains. Just be sure that the software is really, surplus to requirements before removing.
