On June 1, 2013, people will demonstrate all over Europe against the draconian measures being imposed upon the people by the great lords of money.

Citizens uniting all over the continent

In Europe, a web site, takethesquare.net, has been set up to encourage people to take to the streets all over the continent to protest the austerity measures being imposed by the International Monetary Fund, the European Union and the European Commission. On the one side we have massive bank bailouts and not a single prosecution of bankster criminals. On the other side we have mass unemployment, foreclosures, social inequality and cuts in social services such as health care all in the name of a phony debt crisis that privatizes the commons and robs the people blind.

takethesquare.net, in its call to the people, states "Europe is under a violent attack by the financial capital, represented by the troika (IMF, ECB, EC) and by the successive governments that apply concerted policies with these entities, despising and destroying the people. We know that this offensive is set on breaking the peoples, rendering them slaves of debt and austerity. This offensive crosses Europe and it must be defeated by an international struggle."

"Each one of us, in each country, in each city, in each house, with our own specificities, feels directly the measures that annihilate the rights conquered throughout the decades, measures which aggravate unemployment, privatize everything that can make a profit and repel the countries’ sovereignties under the propaganda of “external help”. It is urgent that we join forces to fight-off this attack."

Say goodbye to the Royal Mail

Great Britain is finalizing its plans to privatize its state-owned mail service, which even Maggie Thatcher balked at doing, saying she was "not prepared to have the Queen's head privatized." The government announced Wednesday, May 29, 2013, that Goldman Sachs and UBS would lead the privatization effort, with help from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Barclays. The banks will collect millions of pounds in fees for their work. Readers may be surprised - or maybe they wouldn't - to learn that the Finance Ministers of virtually every European country are ex-employees of Goldman Sachs.

Mario Dunn of the Communications Workers Union, said, "Banks are set to make up to 30 million pounds when the government sells off Royal Mail. Once again consumers will lose out when prices rise and deliveries are reduced but banks make millions."

The general secretary of the CWU, Billy Hayes, added that "Postal workers know that privatization would mean the breakup of the company, more job losses, worse terms and conditions and attacks on their pensions. It would be a wrecking ball to the industry we work in."

And that's the rub. These austerity policies and their accompanying privatization efforts, such as the take over of the Greek railway system, are a robbing of the commons from the people, a graphic example of the unmitigated greed of the financial sector, which is backed by virtually every government in Europe.

The very brief video below is a powerful indictment of the merchants of greed, and a powerful testament to the unity of people the world over in taking a stand against their own enslavement. Please watch it.

The need of the hour is to rein in the greed in the name of freedom. We are losing our souls making everyone just digits. Thank you for taking up the cudgels to highlight the obvious injustice that is apparent to all except the few who want the ordinary mortals to eat cakes of they cannot afford bread! siva
