Molting process could be a threat for the hermit crabs. There has to be done to save them.

Hermit Crabs- Molting

Normally, hermit crabs molt or die in the wild. Recent study shows that discarded shells availability in the wild are getting scarce that made lots of hermit crabs unable to survive.

Molting is a natural process of growing for the hermit crabs. But the problem is their possibility to move to another shell that sometimes becomes a threat to their survival since it is the only way to be protected from predators.

Fortunately, these days the world was able to think about generating something that would not only help the population of hermit crabs in the wild but a benefit for those who are keeping them as pets. Molting is such a crucial stage for hermit crabs since this might be the reason for them to continue with their journey or just die.

Plastic and Painted Shells for Hermit Crabs

Plastic artificial shells are now available in the market to keep the hermit crabs alive when they are molting. All sizes are available for them and for you to grab and save your hermit crabs at home.

In the Philippines, you can find painted shells in SM Malls in Lucky Hermits Stores. Every set will cost you around Php300.
