Simple Ways to Get Out of the Heat

Is the heat of the summer getting to you? It's too hot for me as well, but here are some ideas for finding ways to cool off and keep the temperatures down.

Outside Air

At night, if you live in a safe neighbor, you can sleep with all the windows and doors open in your house. Then in the mornings, before the summer heat begins to fill the house, close everything up and turn on all of the fans inside. Also close the blinds or put up blockers, such as a heavy blanket, over the windows that let in the most heat.

Visit a Cooler Area

If you have someone that is cooler in your area, use this hot weather as an opportunity to visit these areas. For example, I like to go to the beach when the temperatures reach the 90s. The coastal air tends to be a lot cooler, or if it is still hot out there, you can put your feet into the ice cold ocean. If you don't live in an area where you can go to the beach or drive to a cooler city, then find a place that has air conditioning. Take the family for a fun day of lazer tag or out to a movie. These places will most likely have air conditioning, and you will also enjoy a family bonding moment.

Go Swimming

My favorite way to cool off is to go jump into the swimming pool or the lake. Not only will you stay cool, but swimming is great exercise. So while you are having fun and trying to keep your temperature down, you will be burning off those calories from your lunch.

Thanks for the follow. I would love to comment on your article, but can only see the title and the ads. Yours is not the only one. I was hoping it was temporary but I guess I will have to let the Powers That Be know it is a problem.

Summer heat is tough problem, and it's getting worse. Not only must we look for ways to overcome, but we must look for ways to help those who cannot overcome.
Thank you, Courtney.

All good ideas for keeping cool when it's hot. Reducing physical exertion is a good way too, plus a good excuse for putting off chores for another day!

Courtney, great article. I've never been a big fan of the heat. I wish it could be 70 degrees all year long with low humidity. On really hot days we turn on the air. I'm really not a person that likes to be outside when the sun is shining too brightly. It can be really hot in the sun too.
