As a natural consequence of his/her birth, a person inherits genetic information from all his/her ancestors, but all these genes are not active all the time to inspire the person to be like them. Most often, a person is genetically linked to one or more of his/her six ancestors - parents, grand-parents, and maternal grand-parents and genes from whomsoever out of these becomes active, the person's conduct is influence by them.

Genetic Links for Inspirations

Each one of us gets inspiration from two sources - one's ancestors and the society we grow-up in. Inspirations from inheritance are often considered to be fixed but I am of the strong opinion that these may be altered. A person has genes from all his ancestors and he, with some efforts, may relate himself genetically to any of the ancestors, thus deciding by him/herself to which ancestor he derives his/her inspirations from.

Activating Desired Genes

A genetic connection with an ancestor of the person's choice may be established by the person by relating his/her subconscious mind to that ancestor, after studying his/her personality traits and behavior. For this connectivity, he/she must regularly meditate over the attributes of the chosen ancestor, as and when he/she feels a longing for this by sitting at a calm place in the most comfortable posture for him/herself. For this, he/she must feel free him/herself and do as his/her conscience allows him/her to do without any external pressures or desires. The fundamental of this meditation is his/her autosuggestion, as is the case with all other practices related to spirit of the person.
About the meditation exercise later, don’t press yourself to do that or don’t avoid doing that if you feel like doing it. Just leave yourself free to comply with your intuition in this regard with an urge to connect to your chosen ancestor. For this, one is required to know the life and deeds of the ancestor.

Social Links

Beginning with parents, one's society influences the person's conduct and character in multiple ways, most of which is unknown to the person him/herself. Looking at the order of these influences, this is often like this - mother, father, siblings, teachers, friends and others. It is clear here that one's mother often has the most dominating influence on one's personality, her careful attention is the most needed when a child grows. The modern trend of working or single mothers in so-called advanced societies is proving detrimental to the personality of the children and hence the whole society. I blame the women's liberation movement for this apathy towards children.
Influence of others on one's personality being weaker, needs of their respective careful attention too go on decreases. Here it is noteworthy that, the parent's influence in imposing on the child, while in case of others, the child him/herself receives most part of the influence through interactions with others. Therefore, other's influences may be regulated by the child hem/herself if he/she is closed monitored and guided by the parents.
Since, the parents are the closest part of the person’s ancestry, it is, principally, the person’s family lineage that matters the most in determining a person’s conduct and social behavior. In societies where marriages are mostly limited to be within the caste, as in India, it is the community that may be taken as a parameter of one’s character. For a person, to get out it, is very difficult and is possibility through education in a different environment. Here the teachers play the most important role.

Effect of Inspirations

A personality in overall terms is formed and reformed through inspirations the person chooses to grasp. Nothing can force him/her to grasp any particular inspiration for it being purely psychological and intrinsic process. The personality has certain characteristics obtained from the sources of inspirations of the person. But he/she may conduct him/herself different from his/her personality characteristics under circumstantial compulsions and own temptations at that particular moment. This lessens significance of the inspirations because it is the conduct of the person that matters to others, not his/her characteristics.
This brings us to an ultimate point that the principal sources of a person's conduct are his/her own mindset for dealing with his/her circumstances and temptations. This again depends on the person's inspirations.

Very interesting article. I have always had a strong connection with my mother's father. Now, that I think about it. I do hold many of the same personality traits that he held. although, some of them were the same in many of my ancestors.
