Throughout the seven series of the Star Wars saga (the Clone Wars included), the clone troopers were witnessed wearing different armors as the movie progressed.

First Created

Clone troopers were not born as we are normally born.
A bounty hunter by the name of Jango Fett gave his DNA to the manufactures on the planet Kamino and from that DNA, thousands of clone troopers were created and using growth enhancers, they quickly grew from kids to brave soldiers.

They were first witnessed in action during the Battle Of Geonosis and during that battle, Jango Fett, who was also a bounty hunter, was killed.
Soon after that, the Grand Army Of The Republic came into action and participated in many events.

Phase I Clone Armor

The first clone trooper armor was a simple white armored suit and with a white helmet and a blaster rifle that did reasonable amounts of damage.
This armor was not exactly strong and easily fell to one or two blaster shots.

Many of these clone trooper were equipped with jet packs or jet boots and rode many vehicles such as the AT-TE, AT-RT, LAAT/i, LAAT/c etc.

However, not all clone armor was white.
Some had color markings on them to show different ranks such as pilot or commander etc.

Most of the Clone Wars were fought by clones wearing Phase I Armor.

Phase II Clone Armor

The second clone trooper armor was the improved version of the first armor.
It was made lighter and stronger, being able to withstand more firepower.

The only difference I spotted in the two clone armors were the helmets.
The second helmet is a bit broader with two circulars structures at the base. And also the mouth area had lines across that area which resembled teeth (as shown in the picture)
Phase II Clone Armor also had color markings to show different ranks just like their preceding armor.

Phase II Clone Armor was displayed somewhere around the Battle Of Coruscant, which included both ground and space battle. Many Jedi's participated in the battle and even though casualties erupted on both sides, the Republic ended up victorious while the Seperatists were forced to retreat, without Count Dooku as he was beheaded during the battle by Jedi Knight and soon-to-be-Sith Master, Anakin Skywalker.

However, soon after that, after the current Sith Lord's true identity was revealed, he ordered all clones to execute Order 66, a special order to state that Jedis have now become enemies of the Republic.

The Phase II-bearing clone troopers executed the command and most of the clone troopers succeeded in killing their Jedi commanders such as Ki-Adi-Mundi, Aayla Secura, Plo Koon etc. Less than a hundred Jedi survived this crisis. This event was then known as The Great Jedi Purge.

After the Galactic Empire was established and the CIS (Confederate Of Independent Systems) was destroyed, the clones soon became to be known as the dreaded stormtroopers.
Years later, a bunch of rebels under the command of Anakin's daughter, Leia Organa, battled the stormtroopers to maintain peace. This battle had come to be known as the Galactic Civil War.

Stormtroopers

After the end of the Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil Wars began years later in which the stormtroopers played a large role in, mostly under the command of Sith Master, Darth Vader, who was truly Anakin Skywalker.

Stormtroopers served as the basic infantry of the Imperial Army.
Stormtrooper armor were similar to Phase II Clone Armor but the helmet visor was a bit more straightened out and the mouth area was a little wider. Plus, their armor was completely white, except for a few who had orange pads on their shoulders.

Some of the stormtroopers had different armor like the one seen on Endor. They are known as scout troopers. They had a sun visor and their eye areas resembled sunglasses. And instead of the 'scary smile' the stormtroopers possessed, they scouts had an oval-shaped mouthpiece.
But normally, their armor was also white and they like everyone else before carried blaster rifles.

Other than storm and scout troopers, there was another class called the shock trooper.
Shock troopers had the same armor as stormtroopers but they usually carried a rocket launcher and normally carried a backpack to hold their gear.

There are also Imperial pilots that have similar armor as the stormtroopers but it is in the color of black.

It is amazing that Clone Troopers made to maintain peace in the galaxy had been converted into the Stormtroopers, the very evil that served the Jedi Purge, the occasion when over a hundred Jedis were killed.

I am a dinosaur. Though I enjoyed most of the Star Wars series, I grew up on the original Star Trek - not as big and flashy as Star Wars, but it got me hooked, paving the way, I'm sure, for my enjoyment of Mr. Lucas' space opera.

I haven't yet seen Star Trek but I have heard alot of good
reviews about it. Star Wars, however is unique. It's divided into hundreds of
books, comics, video games, episodes and those six movies. But overall, it's all one story that contains many protagonists and antagonists. ;)

There was only one master of the Sith lords, you incorrectly label Darth Vader as Sith Master (there was no such thing). The correct term is Sith "lord" or Sith apprentice.

One more note, the very first trooper armor was that of mandalorian design :Jango's armor.
