Synchronicity, or chance? Are all things connected, or not?

Are you meant to read this article? Was I meant to write it?

Are these two events synchronistically linked together in some way?

This article purports to say that they are. All events are linked, nothing happens on its own.

There are no chance events. God does not play dice, as Einstein once said.

Carl Jung, and his theory of Synchronicity

Carl Gustav Jung, the eminent Swiss psychotherapist (1875 to 1961) thought that synchronicities were not chance happenings.

He thought though that they were caused within the person concerned. To Jung, some type of deeply seated psychological process was happening. Jung came up with his own idea as to why something happening within a person could physically affect the outer world.

Jung thought that there was a subtle connection between the two. Some explanative principle was taking place here, that was probably just not yet known to science.

Jung referred to this as an "acausal connecting principle".

A meaningful co-incidence was taking place, which means of course that what was taking place was really no co-incidence at all!

Physicists these days would perhaps explain it now more like this:

"Non-local quantum effects establish a connection of sorts, or more an imaging reproductive alliance, or correlative interactive joining together, that cannot be explained by any form of a more direct causal linking effect being seen to be in place here."

In other words, they mean a form of synchronicity is taking place here.

A more simple explanation might be of course that our consciousness, our conscious energy can affect our physical environment even as much as it setting it up for us in a certain way.

All is one, in other words, everything affects everything else.

There are no divisions. Subjective and objective reality are related, connected, and are both acting together for us to form our experiences, which too contain both inner and outer parts to them.

Our inner world is a part of the outer, and the outer world is part of our inner world.

This is why our dreams can be so real, and life like, and why sometimes in our physical world we can think that we are not really fully present, but are dreaming, or existing slightly distanced away, in some form of a light trance-like state, at times.

To end this section of my article, here is a personal experience of mine that just happened to me right now that illustrates all of this very nicely I think.

When I logged onto my computer early this morning to start writing this article, a message came up (on my screen) that my computer would be re-started in 14 minutes to finish some type of an updating process, where the computer needed to be rebooted to do that.

I was aware that I should probably do this right away, but I ignored this (never a good thing to do).

I was writing away, when suddenly I was booted off, logged off automatically from my computer, that is. The fourteen minutes had flown by apparently just like that. It seemed like that it was only two minutes.

The thing was that I hadn't saved my article that I had been feverishly writing down enthusiastically inspired by my in-coming thoughts.

I was very-very angry at myself for not saving my work.

Was this a synchronously real experience for me then?

I was writing an article on synchronicity, and this happened to me then, right now, of all times.

(Other cynics might just say that another law is working here though, Murphy's Law: If a thing can go wrong, it will go wrong, and usually at the worst possible of times).

Was this a co-incidence, or did the fact that this happened mean something deeper for me as a part of my on-going learning curve, or spiritual journeying, through this particular life-time?

Read on to learn more about this interesting subject of synchronicity.

Chance might be the name of a place, but it's not existing in your mind!

Where does Freewill fit in here then?

This explanation (see above) of how synchronicity works in no way affected the idea of freewill as still existing though, or did it?

Freewill allows for choices to be made that are seemingly separated from any other conditioning cause.

If all things are related, and if all is one great big connected together happening, and if our happening is only a part of this greater happening, is the concept of freewill really even remotely relevantly valid here, or not?

Synchronicity joins together what we think is apart. It is our freewill to accept this connection as being relevantly there for us or not. It is our freewill to learn from each experience then, or not.

What really is synchronicity, is it really real, or is it just mere coincidence?

The realness of coincidence comes alive in the reality of synchronistic or connected events, because events when connected from the thread of love are linked like no other, and this connection will always draw such events into line for you, and so opportunistically favourable events will take place in the best possible way to give you an enhanced attribute of experience, possible in no other way, except for in the gratuitous perfectly linked connected lineage of love's energy, that is living everywhere, and which is living within you too.

Now that's a mouthful of a paragraph isn't it? Was I meant to write that that way, or not?

"When an inner situation is not made conscious, it appears outside as fate."

The above quote from Carl Jung suggests to me that fate called by another name is a synchronicity.

What is Synchronicity? Synchronicity and Love, an example

Synchronicity is the recognition of the perfect love that is always working perfectly within your life, and within all of our lives. Everything happens, always connected together by this love. All is synchronic, and all is infinitely working together for love, within God's overall oneness.

Perfect love always works within all of our lives to bring about perfect experiences for us to be able to have the perfect opportunity to learn about it from.

I will give an example of how synchronicity works, from my own life.

Several years ago, I was working for a rather large company, that was actively retrenching their staff. I too was a little unsure about my own future there, and I was more than a little worried, about it all, and about what my own future there, would be.

One Saturday morning, my wife and I went out for a drive, and without really thinking too much, about where we were going to.

On the way home again, we made a wrong turning into a busy road, and then we saw a small bookshop, sitting there amongst a group of other shops. We stopped, and we went inside.

There was an old man standing there behind the counter. Nobody else was inside his shop, at that time.

For some strange reason, I went up to the guy, and I asked him, right off the top of my head,

''Is your shop for sale?''

There were no signs anywhere in this shop to give me this impression at all, and to this day, I still do not know why I got it into my head to ask him this peculiar question.

Anyway, he said,

''Yes.''

Just as quickly, I instantly replied to him,

''Well, I'll buy it.''

Only one short week later, I had taken a redundancy package, and I was working proudly in this second hand bookshop, as its new owner.

This story has a lot of other parts to it of course, that only ever added to the perfection of the love, that was working so perfectly for both of us, on that particular day, and as it is always, on all days.

This poor man, unbeknown yet to himself, only had a few more short months to live upon this Earth. He was an old English gentleman, and the money that I gave him for his business, enabled him to take a trip home again to England. This was the first trip back home that he had taken, in over forty years, of his trading in the book business, here in Australia.

When he returned back to Australia, it was discovered and perhaps too late now, that he had a stomach cancer. Three months later, he was gone.

Our outer reality conveys to us the inner truths of love.

Synchronicity and consciousness

Our life is a reflection of our consciousness, and yet it is this platform of consciousness that allows us to interpret the whispers coming to us from love, that are always present within our life, to help, and to guide us.

This is what synchronicity is. It is a connection of consciousness to love.

On the other hand here where we live things are not all one in their way either. This is a world of duality, where balance plays its part too. Synchronicity, consciousness, life, all must be seen in terms of love for us not to live an unbalanced life.

When we recognize this unbreakable connection to love, we will see the synchronicity that is always working for us, at all times, in connecting God's love, to our consciousness.

Nothing happens by coincidence, or by chance. All is part of the perfect workings of love. Everything communicates its message to us.

Thinking synchronistically allows us to read, and to take notice of love's messages, that are constantly coming to us from God, and are being given to our soul.

The truth lives in all people, and it is the truth of love. The amount of this truth that you can see as operating within them, reflects the amount of truth, that you are currently operating from yourself.

We do not see exactly the same truth that these others are living from, we simply see the amount of truth within them that our own current conscious recognition allows for.

This is why we cannot always see the synchronistic connections that are always present, within every life experience.

Truth and every other soul exist as well as you existing, but what you see as existing, reflects the conscious awareness ability of your own soul, as it is being linked to you, to allow you the chance to also learn from its current position of understanding of your own truths of love, that are residing within you as you.

We all have certain individualised truths that have been placed within us as gifts from God for us to learn to live from within this particular lifetime.

The wisdom eyes of soul, are opened from connecting to the truth and to the love in others, and this opens you more to yourself, enabling you also to be able to see more.

Nothing only ever goes one way.

Your current viewing of truth is reflected outside of you, but the outside can also awaken you to an even greater inner viewing of it, but only if you stop limiting yourself to only seeing as you currently do, and if you just try to see always, from the greater, all seeing eyes of love.

This stretches you rather than limiting you, and so you see more and more, and even more, of what you are not currently seeing. Love becomes then more visible, by you wanting to see more, and by your first trusting of it, that it is always actually there.

This then opens you up further to be able to see these synchronistic connections now even more, as you realise the truth, that love always opens all of its doors for you, and that each new door is always synchronistically connected to the rest of your life, and indeed, to all other life.

Synchronicity is of course just a term that was coined by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung to denote a meaningful coincidence. Thinking synchronistically highlights similarities to us, by allowing the vibrational connection of love to resonate more deeply within us, and so to give it then, a much better chance to be noticed by us.

Synchronicity like love, works outside of the effects of karma, or of the laws of cause and effect.

Love has nothing attached to it, except for God's truth that is reflecting to us from within God's mirror of love, or shining at us, from its surface, the ''infinacy'' of God's oneness.

Synchronicity simply allows for the truths to be threaded together in such a way, that we can then better see the divine hand of God working purposefully for us, as it always does.

This conscious recognition, allows God's love to become consciously better recognised within his own parts, by them allowing his love to connect from them back again to God, and also to all of the other parts of his love, or to all other souls.

This synchronistically always happens of course, but it is up to the freedom of each soul to first allow themselves to see this, and then to allow it to actually take place and to happen, and so to stop themselves from blocking, or resisting it all from happening.

When we block the flow of God's love, we can only ever block it, with our own fears.

Such love, working together with synchronicity, was once responsible for me owning a bookshop, or so I believe anyway. This was the best period of my whole life up until now.

"You cannot open a book without learning something."

The old Chinese sage, Confucius (551 BC to 479 BC) said this.

I might add here that the page that you open it at is a synchronistic experience for you too. Nothing, but nothing ever happens by chance.

Spirited, I do believe everything happens for a reason and we are all connected.

thanks brendamarie, so do I.

If things weren't connected, and if things happened for no reason, the world would not work I think. It only works because all things are connected.

Thought provoking Spirited, thanks for this share.

Just like in dreams when we tend to forget the details or understand the significance, in real life too, we meet people but soon forget the part played by them in shaping our thoughts.

It has happened to me few times when it looked a hopeless situation, I meet some or thoughts come out of the blue to give me solutions, a way out. What brought them to me should be synchronicity as you explain.

I believe some can influence us with their blessings, especially the dead we knew in life, but we have to be worthy to receive their guidance or they should have led such lives to help us along - siva

thanks siva,

a way out is always provided I think, a better way, a way to go love's way, is synchronistically supplied if we look for it awarely.

I see the connection with the book shop and you buying it that was synchronicity, but your first example of losing your article was not, snychronicity is two seemingly unrelated things happening at the same time. The article was related directly to the updates, therefor it is cause and effect. You forgot about the update and your article was lost because of it. Did you read my article on synchronicity?

thanks Carol,

the synchronicity was that I was working on an article on synchronicity when the timing of the update just seemed to then happen too. The update could have gone through at any other time.

You seem to have put a lot of time into this and you provide valuable insight here ~ Spirited. Thank you.
As you said ~ 'When we block the flow of God's love, we can only ever block it, with our own fears.'
It is my belief that there are really no co-incidences. I get it that God's love works together with synchronicity.

1 John 4:8 says: "He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."

Romans 8:28 says this: "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." That seems to rule out luck altogether. Thanks for sharing. Richest blessings to you.

"all things work together for good."

I agree with you Helen, this does seem to rule out luck or co-incidence.

All things are connectedly working together for good, or for our benefit I feel.

Yes ~ they work together for good to those who love God ~ for our benefit. Sounds unfair ~ but it isn't.
