The haunted Kelsay house has out of control ghosts that consistently wreak havoc on the family. Jim and Susie Kelsay are concerned that the entity is focused on their young daughter, Jennifer. The Kelsay's describe the dark and diabolical experiences lurking in their home as unnerving.

Cantankerous Ghosts Wreak Havoc at the Kelsay House on Geiger Grade Road

Fish Springs, Nevada is a small community located in Douglas County, roughly twenty-miles south of Reno and a few miles east of the Carson valley, just off of old US-395. The twisting mountain road leading to the remote community of Fish Springs is better known to the locals as Geiger Grade Road/Nevada 341. The area has a population of 648, unless you count the cantankerous ghosts, which then increases the population by three. This ghostly trio has been known to wreak havoc and create noisy commotions without effort at the haunted two-story residence that sits nestled at 600 Geiger Grade Road.

The home was originally situated in the ghost town of Virginia City, near the cemetery, but was later moved to Fish Spring. The history of the home's former occupants is somewhat of a mystery, but it is known that the haunted residence was built somewhere around 1860. Regardless of the home's history, Susie Kelsay fell in love with the house, and she and her husband Jim purchased it in 1978, ghosts included. Almost from the beginning the couple noticed tools missing, strange noises and the thermostat had a habit of getting stoked up to 95 degrees despite nobody touching the control. The paranormal activity was becoming completely unpredictable and highly unmanageable.

Unnerving, Dark & Diabolical Paranormal Activity

The Kelsay family describes the dark and diabolical experiences lurking in their home as unnerving, and they had the disturbing feeling that the main focus of the manifestation was directed towards their daughter, Jennifer, who at the tender age of two, described the ghost as a tall, mustached man. They never were completely sure why he would make regular visits to Jennifer's bedroom, often levitating her bed as she tried to sleep. On one particularly unsettling evening, Jennifer woke up to the sight of a small ghost boy and the ghost of the man that the family had come to know as Samuel. The adult entity had a concerned look on his face, but came across to Jennifer as being harmless. Samuel was also known to randomly appear in the home's kitchen area, disappearing just as fast as the mind could accept that it was perceiving something uniquely unexplainable, yet very real to the human eye. Up until the early 80s, the Kelsay family witnessed Samuel's ghostly presence on many occasions.

Psychic, Dan Martin Gives the Resident Ghost a Name

A strong concern over her child's safety quickly grew and Susie often discussed the disharmony and paranormal events with co-workers, to which one fellow employee put her in touch with psychic, Dan Martin who later gave details surrounding their resident ghost. Dan Martin claimed that the entity's name was Samuel, and that he was there to protect her young daughter, Jennifer. The psychic was capable of communicating with Samuel and asked him to please stop scaring the Kelsay family and quiet down. The family noticed that the household became much more calm after bringing in Dan Martin even though Samuel made his presence still be known from time to time, but now he had turned his attention to Susie.

His disembodied voice could be heard during times that his ghostly body was nowhere to be seen. His voice sometimes came off as that of an angry man. After several sightings in the kitchen and her bedroom, Mrs. Kelsay began to fear going to bed, because just as fast as she climbed in and got comfortable, Samuel would start making noises. Heavy footsteps as if someone were climbing the stairs to their room would keep her awake most of the night. Tired from a lack of sleep, she eventually convinced Mr. Kelsay to move from the eerie house and into a more peaceful environment. In 1981, Jim and Susie Kelsay packed up their family and moved to nearby Gardnerville, Nevada. It appeared that the ghost of Samuel had moved with them. He was captured in a photograph during a photo session with her seven-week old baby. Once she retrieved the developed pictures and started looking them over and realized that a strange entity was staring back at her from one of the photographs.

Susie once again turned to psychic, Dan Martin for advice and his expertise in dealing with the other side. Dan informed her that it was Samuel and that he was watching over her baby. Later that same year, the Kelsay family decided to move back to their Fish Springs home. To their surprise, during their first night in the house all of the clocks stopped at precisely the same time. Despite living in a paranormal atmosphere that was somewhat disturbing, the family remained in the home up until 1988 when they once again moved. This time they moved out of state to California, and even though they said their good-byes to their resident ghost, they quickly learned from their daughter, Jennifer that Samuel was still with them, appearing as a full-bodied apparition and carrying on with loud noises as he had done in the past.

The Home's Dark Side Fully Embodies the House and the People Living In It

In October of 1989, they rented the Geiger Grade home in Fish Springs to Steve and Mona Robinson, who had two young boys, Garrett and Miles. The family had absolutely no clue about the home's dark side that involved paranormal activity that embodied the home during the Kelsey's stay, however, they were getting ready to find out that the house they had rented was not only creepy, it was becoming unquestionably unmanageable. An angry male ghost first appeared to eleven-year-old, Garrett in the house and then chased him outside into the yard. The threatening spirit, then continued his tirade by slamming the screen door shut and then continuously rattled it to the point that it almost came off of it's hinges. Without warning, the angry spirit suddenly appeared in the picture window, taunting Garrett with a menacing look followed by an evil grin, terrifying the child so much that he refused to come back inside.

Garrett's brother, six-year-old, Miles was next on the angry ghost's torment list. One late night while trying to sleep, the cantankerous spirit levitated the boy while he laid in his bed. Then the boys started hearing what sounded like a female and two males arguing. After learning that their parents were fast asleep, the boys investigated the source of the voices, but could find nothing to explain the annoying banter. The disembodied voices would carry on throughout the house at all hours of the day and night. No longer capable of handling the out-of-control spirits, Just one year after moving into the poltergeist-infested abode, the Robinson family moved out of the haunted house that they had once considered home. Jim and Susie Kelsay eventually sold the house in 1992. Today the property is owned by a casino. Paranormal investigators are frequent visitors to the haunted house and it was featured on Unsolved Mysteries in January of 1991.

Sherri, excellent article as always! As you know these stories are very unnerving to me. You know as I've said many times before I'm not the bravest soul there is by a long shot. As a matter of fact this haunting sounds like the Granato house! Yikes and Double Yikes!

Another realistic take, thanks Sherri. Maybe, casino may not be the place worth residing in for the ghosts!

Never realized that ghosts can move with the family long distances but as long as they are harmless half the battle is won, though better to keep a safe distance - siva

I've actually explored this house multiple times and several strange things have happend to me on the property. The house has been destroyed though they bulldozed it down. I found the basement particularly terrifying although if you can shimmy your way up the broken staircase that's definitely a scary place as well. Didn't know the history until now so that was an interesting read.

This is interesting. Is this house still standing or was it torn down?

The house is still standing today a casino now owns it and lets paranormal investigators explore it but it can never be owned or sold to a normal family it's a private owned business residence now

I was just at this property on 08/16/18 as I am looking to buy a home in that area. Beautiful property, do you know anything about the non-permitted house behind the farmhouse? Didn't know this history until after viewing. We did notice that the doors seemed to slam when we closed them and a hall light came on seemingly by itself.
