International Mother's Day is an annual celebration of all over the world. It use to celebrate in the month of March or May on the convincing time of several countries. It is for showing thanks to the mothers for their love and influence in the life of children. In Bangladesh Mother's Day is on the second Sunday of the month of May.

History of Mother's Day

The first holiday for Mother's Day was celebrated in USA in 1908. The mother's day is invented by Anna Jervis. She did it first for her mother. However, at the beginning, it was not celebrated all over the country of USA. Anna Jervis started her campaign and made it possible to observed this day separately in all the states of USA by 1911. Jervis' intention was to appreciate and show love to mothers by wishing and showing gratefulness rather giving them pre-made cards or buying gifts. From that time, this day adopted to other countries and now it is observed in all over the countries of the world.

The Date of Mother's Day Celebration

This day use be celebrated in the month of March or May. In Bangladesh, as International Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of the month of May, there are some other countries which also use to celebrate on the same day or their convincing day. People's Activities in Bangladesh and Gifts

There are several activities held on the Mother's Day in Bangladesh to show the respect for mothers. As follows:
*Giving awards to the successful mothers
* Giving cards, flowers, or cakes.
* Family gatherings or visits.
* Family breakfasts, brunches, lunches, and dinners either at home, at a café or at a restaurant.
* Personal phone calls, particularly from children who live away from their mothers and/or mother figures.
* Mother’s Day poems and messages.
* Gifts of chocolate, jewelry, accessories, clothing, hobby equipment or tools, handmade items, or gift vouchers.
* A day at the movies with mothers and/or mother figures
* Mother's Day essay competition.
*Cultural programmes and several activities by the Government and Non-government institutions and so on.

Conclusions

International Mother's Day celebration is definitely an appreciable observation but the love and sacrifice which mothers use to do for their children should no be limited only on this day. Every day and every moment, children should show their respect, honour and love to their mothers. They always should try to comfort their mothers. The person who has sacrifices everything for her children, its not possible to fulfill her debt in this limited life. So we should respect and honour them.

Hmmm.........its a positive thing that it is helping to ad this matter as we should love and respect our mothers.
