Why the Abrahamic religions do not deserve the respect of thinking people.

The Moronic Myth of Monotheism

Anyone who studies the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Ba’hai) with a critical eye will be amazed at what arrant nonsense they preach! At the core of all of them are two basic assumptions:

1) The Universe is the creation of an omnipotent, omniscient designer.

2) God revealed himself to us as an intervention to bring salvation.

Let's deal with these points in order:

1) That the universe is a Creation by a monotheistic deity, a supreme designer, be he called God, Allah, Yahweh or whatever.

So the believers want their God to take credit for the exploding stars, failed solar systems and destroyed galaxies that have left us in this one corner of the universe.

They want him to take credit for creating the situation of us inhabiting the one planet in this tiny solar system that can support life on some of it’s surface, some of the time and upon which 99.9% of every species that has ever existed has already died out.

And they want him to take credit for the fact that this same solar system is set to be destroyed in 5 billion years by the impact of the Andromeda galaxy, unless our own sun supernovas first.

By the way, this is some design, isn’t it?

2) That God's revelation was a form of intervention to guide us on the right path.

Let’s further illustrate this stupidity with the following:

Francis Collins, the co-discoverer of DNA and a practising Christian, thinks that we have been on Earth 100,000 years. Well, let’s apply the monotheistic theory to this.

For the first 97,000 years, Heaven looks on with indifference as humanity dies in their 20s, prey to disease, war and death.

Then, 3,000 years ago, Heaven decides to intervene by revelation.

But not in China, where they can already read and write and are in the process of establishing one of the great civilizations of human history.

And not in the Indus Valley, where mathematics and architecture are quite advanced for the time.

No, the revelation occurs in Bronze Age Palestine, before a bunch of stupefied, illiterate peasants and nomads.

And as Heaven’s chosen people, they pick the most backward, the most racist, the most violent tribe of the lot (The previous statement is based on the actions of the Hebrew tribe as outlined in the Bible, not on the behaviour of real life Jews). Then they have them rise above the other tribes through slavery, genocide and conquest. And finally they have them settle in the one part of the Middle East where there is no oil.

And all subsequent revelations occur in the same district.

And 3,000 years later, there are still areas of the world that his message has not reached, and those who have been chosen as his messengers have their followers fighting amongst themselves over interpretations of belief in what is essentially the same God.

This is what they essentially believe! How can anyone who examines this stuff critically possibly take it seriously?

Hahahahahahaha!
Keith, I take my hat off to you.
I'm laughing here due to the language used in the article. The truth is, every individual should worship a God that makes sense to him/ her or not worship at all if such a being doesn't exist. So are free to worship your God without insulting others.

On the other hand, the behavior of others, those that claim to be God's children, really leaves a lot to be desired. They got no regard for human life and show no shred of decency in them that reflects God or the existence of such a God..

Thanks for sharing and I'm following you for more.

Really?
On what do the panoply of gods subsist?
"Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em,
And little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum.
And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on,
While these again have greater still, and greater still, and so on." --Augustus De Morgan
