A short summary.

What is the Bermuda Triangle?
The Bermuda Triangle is an area located in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean. The Bermuda triangle also known as Devil’s triangle is an area in the shape of the triangle and surrounded by three places Miami, Bermuda and lesser. This area covers 500,000 square miles but there are no official boundaries of this area. There are so many mysterious incidents have been occurred in this ocean. In this devil sea many ships and aircrafts have been disappeared. There are some electro magnetic or gravitational forces inside this sea according to scientists. According to scientists’ researches, on this area the compass needle points towards true north however normally a compass will point towards magnetic north and the difference between the two is known as compass variation which changes as much as by 20 degrees. Although changes had occurred in this compass variation due to fluctuations in earth’s magnetic field but only before nineteenth century.

Theories about the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle
There are so many theories regarding this area. Most volcanic activities have been occurred in this area which can also be thought of one of the reasons of unexplained disappearance of dozens of ships, planes and people. It has been suggested that there is a rift opens up in this ocean and all missing ships and planes are traveling since there is no trace or wreckage of missing aircrafts and ships have yet been found. They might disappear to another place or dimensions. Many bizarre theories have been propounded to explain the happenings of the missing travelers. Most of these unexplained disappearances have been attributed to the conspiracies of enormous sea monsters, gaint squid or extra terrestrials, alien abductions, existence of the mysterious third dimension created by unknown beings and ocean flatulence which means that the ocean is ejecting great quantities of trapped methane. There are numerous asumptions and theories regarding Bermuda triangle but still it is an enigma.

Notable Events
On 5 December 1945, Flight 19 along with five TBM Avenger Torpedo Bombers carrying 14 men took off at 2:10 pm from the U.S Naval Air station on a training mission. The instructor was Lieutenant Charles Taylor. Their training mission was to fly a three-legged triangular route with few bombing practices but the compasses on plane of Charles Taylor malfunctioning and showed an anomalous reading. It was suggested that he wasn’t wearing a watch. When fuel of the first plane dipped below 10 gallons, all other five planes were to ditch in the stormy sea in the darkness. All the planes flew in the blustery sea. When the planes were ditched, the Avenger an extremely rugged plane would go down hard and fast. Neither bodies nor wreckage were ever founds. It is assumed that planes encountered unusual phenomena.
Another story is about Mary Celeste which was a Brigantine merchant ship 103 foot displacing 282 tons. It was floating by the crew of the Dei Gratia on 4 December 1872. The Dei Gratia sighted the ship sailing erratically. Then it was abandoned by the crew of Dei Gratia. It was abound that there was bloody swords under captain’s bed and strange vortices suckoff the crew.

Other Theories
Scientists have claimed that the environment plays vital role in the disappearances occurred so far. The reasons can be man made or due to natural causes. One of the Scientist has discovered that there is the large presence of methane gas formed in the underwater due to the decayed bodies of the sea creatures. There is waterspout produced by storms or disturbances in the weather and underwater earth quakes can also cause destruction. There are deepest trenches in this area. There is an extremely steep drop in the underwater area. The terrible disappearances of the ships and aircrafts could also be a result of being trapped in the tornadoes and sinking into the depth of ocean. Researchers who have entered this area claimed that there are certain unusual or abnormal magnetic differences in this area due to which compass point toward true north. One of the rumors is that adventurers have caused destruction in the olden days due to their smuggling operations and attacks on the ships.

I did fly over the "Triangle" once to shoot some aerial photographs for a client. Actually I spent about 30 minutes in the "Triangle" shooting photos. Nothing untoward happened. I loved reading about all the mysteries associated with the "Triangle".
