Any sentence which gives a message becomes a quotation for me. A good quotation is one which impulsively touches ones heart and provokes one's brain the moment we come across it! I think it should have the quality of evoking the consciousness in an individual!

What Is A Good Quotation?

A quotation should be impressive, create some impact and it should make one think for a while. I have a bad habit of underling the sentences which make an impact on my brain and heart impulsively while reading a book and brood on it for a minute or two before proceeding further!

I personally feel that good quotations are the expressions of an author or reflections of an author incorporated either in his book or article at a particular context, which are universally acceptable in one's life at any instance.

Quotations Are For Our Illumination!

The quotations may not be always by great people, a common man can quote a wise quotation at times indicating the naked truth of life! For example my father used to always say 'Lending money is creating an enemy!' Initially I never paid any heed to this quotation of his, but today I looking at the people and their behavior I realize why he said so and his sentence has become a quotation for me!

The quotations can be either serious or funny in nature but they always provoke us to think for a while. They are for our Illumination!

The following ten quotations are definitely not the best quotations ever I have come across but then these are the one which I frequently use in my day today life! Hope you will enjoy these quotations!

1. A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him. - David Brinkley

What a wonderful quotation! This quotation by David Brinkley who was an American News Caster, gives strength and energy to those people who are dejected by the failures in life.

This quotation helps in transforming one's life from pessimism to optimism!

This has been one of my favorite quotations which I often use in my day to day life!

2. At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet. - Plato

This quotation by the classical Greek philosopher and mathematician Plato, implies what a true love can do to an individual. It can totally transform an individual's character.

A true love can change a cruel, ruthless stone like heart into an affectionate, caring, tender and soft one like wax!

3. A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life. - Charles Darwin

This quotation is my all time favorite and I successfully create an impact by using this one on my subordinates by stressing the name of the eminent and renowned English Naturist, Charles Darwin, who quoted it!

4. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. - Socrates

This quotation by Socrates who was a classical Greek Athenian philosopheris actually is an abstract of one's life, which implies that in the process of learning in life we go on learning and learning only to realize that we really don't know anything as there is a lot be to learnt more!

5. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. -Walt Disney

This is a quotation by Walt Disney who was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist This quotation suits him as he has turned the dreams into reality by pursuing them with hard work and dedication to become a History in the entertainment Industry!

An excellent quotation by an appropriate man!

6. When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity. - Albert Einstein

The above funny quotation was quoted by the great scientist Albert Einstein a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, when some one asked him to explain his 'Theory of Relativity' in simple words! What a great job, in simple and funny words!

I am highly impressed with this quotation of the Genius!

7. Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow ripening fruit. - Aristotle

This quotation by Aristotle a Greek philosopher and polymath, indicates the meaning of friendship! It explains that a true friendship requires a lot of love, caring, selflessness and dedication which only can be built up mutually over the period of time and it is not a over night's process !

Nice quotation I like it!

8. We learn from experience that men never learn anything from experience. - George Bernard Shaw

This is again a funny quotation by the great Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw who wants to imply that it is the common tendency of the human beingl to commit the same mistake again and again!

He implies that he hardly takes any lesson from his past experience in his life to make it a secured one! Funny but very true!

9. Restlessness is discontent - and discontent is the first necessity of progress. Show me a thoroughly satisfied man - and I will show you a failure. - Thomas Alva Edison

A beautiful quotation by Thomas Alva Edison who was an American inventor and businessman, This clearly says that contended soul can never think of progress as progress always requires an unquenched thirst for knowledge in one's life!

A thought provoking quotation of my admiration!

10. Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome - Isaac Asimov

What a quotation! It is the extract of the life in one statement by the famous American author and professor of biochemistry Isaac Asimov! It doesn't require any explanation why it is my one of the favorites!

Hope you must have liked these assorted quotations of my choice and appreciate them! Please Comment! Thanks

I have to disagree with Darwin, sometimes what one person calls wasting time is really a person slowing down and smelling the roses.

Slowing down and smelling roses is actually a process of rejuvenating one self and you can't call it as a wastage of time! It is some thing like taking rest as we do when we sleep! Thanks !

I like all these excellent quotes.

And I think there is a lot more than what it means to say, "We learn from experience that men never learn anything from experience", as said by GB Shaw!
