I am sure many of have been already know about Pacific Ocean, but not necessarily all of us certainly know more about it. Therefore, in this article I try to share glance information about. Pacific Ocean contains about 25,000 Islands (more than the number of islands that are in the oceans of the world when combined), the majority located in the south of the equator.

The World's largest collection of water "Pacific Ocean"

Pacific Ocean or the Pacific Ocean (from the Spanish "Pacifico", meaning quiet) is the world's largest collection of water. It covers approximately one third of the Earth's surface, with an area of 179.7 million km² (69.4 million sq mi). Length of about 15,500 km (9,600 mi) from the Bering Sea in the Arctic to limit ice in the Ross Sea in the Antarctic in the south. Pacific Ocean reaches its greatest east-west width at about 5 degrees U latitude, where it stretches approximately 19,800 km (12,300 mi) from Indonesia to the coast of Colombia. The western border of the ocean is usually placed in the waterway. The lowest point of the Earth's surface to the Mariana Trench located in the Pacific Ocean. The ocean lies between Asia and Australia in the west, America in the east, the Antarctic in the south and the Arctic Ocean on the north.

In the irregular boundaries of the Pacific Ocean there are many seas, the largest are the Celebes Sea, Coral Sea, East China Sea, the Sea of Japan, South China Sea, Sulu Sea, Tasman Sea and the Yellow Sea. Strait of Malacca linking to Indian Ocean with the Pacific Ocean on the west, and the Strait of "Magelhaens" connects the Pacific with the Atlantic Ocean on the east.

Portuguese Explorer

Portuguese explorer "Fernando de Magelhaens" was the one who called the Pacific Ocean. For most of his journey from the Strait of Magelhaens to the Philippines, Magelhaens did feel the serenity of the ocean. However, the Pacific is not always quiet, where the wide of Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean to shrink. This leads too many earthquakes happen. Many of the whirlwind and storm damage on the islands of the Pacific and the Pacific filled soil around volcanoes and frequent earthquakes rocked. The tsunami, caused by an earthquake on the ocean floor, has devastated many Islands and wipe out the entire city.

Viewgreen, great article and I loved the pictures. I have learned something new today which is a very good thing. I didn't know that there are 25,000 islands in the Pacific ocean. That is amazing to me.
