Tips for Printing Quality Digital Photos at Home

With digital photography you need not visit a photo developer to have your photos developed. In fact, with the right hardware you can actually print your own quality digital photos. To do so you will need to have a photo quality ink-jet or laser printer.

Tips for Printing Quality Digital Photos at Home

When you have a photo quality printer then you have the hardware to print your photos. In fact, you do not even need a PC! Some printers have photo memory card slots where you can insert the memory card into the printer. Then, you can select which of the photos you would like to have printed.

However, before you start printing there are a few tips that should be noted. The first is to make sure that the ink cartridges are not short of ink. It's easy to check the printer ink levels via printer ink level displays which will highlight how much ink the cartridges have. If you have a laser printer then toner powder refills will be required.

Secondly, consider doing some printing tests before you begin printing. Printing tests and maintenance can include things such as print test page. If the test page does not print okay, then other maintenance options such as clean print-head and nozzle correction are recommended. These will ensure better print quality.

Also make sure you have suitable paper for photo quality prints. As such, premium photo-sized paper is most recommended. These are compatible with all ink-jet printers, and can be optimized for certain printer models. Check that the paper is clean and has not been scribbled on.

Aside from this, it's worth taking advantage of image-editing software as well. Image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP or even Google Picasa can have a variety of options for image editing and effects. With these, photo editing options such as sharpen and auto-contrast can help enhance the photo and make it clearer. In addition to this, additional effects can be added to photos such as glow, saturation for more color, soft focus, and black and white. So with image-editing options that photo can be enhanced in a variety of ways.

These are a few tips for printing photo quality photos. Find a photo quality printer, and before you begin printing make sure the printer cartridges are not short of ink, print a test-page and if necessary select further maintenance options, load the printer with photo-quality paper, and consider some photo editing with editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP or Picasa.
