A trend that may be a revolutionary one, but I'm afraid they won't let it prosper.

Trying to grow my own aromatic herbs

How good it´ll be to open the window to get a twig of thyme or rosemary for whatever I´m cooking. On the other hand, having several pots of aromatic herbs not only gives good aroma, but they also keep mosquitoes away.
I´m just starting and I´ve only sown few of them. The lavender didn´t grow. I think I spotted tiny green dots on the earth, but it didn´t grow up. The watercress seemed to be doing very well till it started to get yellow. The basil was doing very well till it started to lose leaves and also became yellow. I´ll have to remove it to sow something else. It most probably had too much sunlight, because the windowsills where I´ve my pots are very sunny, especially in the morning and this Summer has been a particularly sunny and hot one.
The thyme and the oregano are doing well and I´ll soon have to change them into bigger pots and I´m thinking of sowing new ones such as fennel, sage, rosemary and perhaps lavender once again.
I live in a centrally located flat with two windows facing a patio and two other facing the street, but being a top flat, it´s wonderfully sunny. I´m really enthusiastic about my tiny orchard and as someone told me about my writing "humble beginnings and great things." We´ll see. It´s a matter of starting up and being patient. If one fails, another can be sown.
URBAN ORCHARDS

Someone said once that a person who can grow its own food will be a truly free one. I believe it's true, because we don't need way too many things or assets to live, but so long as we have a place to live, clothes to put on and food to eat, we can live.
That is why the trend of newly created orchards whether in cities or in rural areas has sprung up like wild mushroom everywhere.
One can live without a car, a luxurious house and all these assets that the consumers' society has imposed on all of us, but no one can't live without food or a place to live no matter how humble or simple it is, but if we can provide ourselves with a roof and our own food, we'll survive.
This is, I think, quite a revolutionary trend that I'm afraid the system won't let it prosper, because they want us to consume till drop dead. It doesn't matter if one needs this or that, but one's obliged to buy and thus enslaved in the consumers' society.
