We need to seize the day, find unity in diversity to take the next step towards peace and progress. Though we feel smug being at the top of the pecking order, evolutionary process can be unforgiving to us too! History repeats itself!

Borderless World

We get up in the morning and are soon jolted to reality. Earlier times, we were blissfully unaware of what happened outside our narrow confines, but no more. The enemy had to come knocking at our doors to realize what we were up to. Now, news from around the world comes through cyberspace. And some beyond, those hitherto we were ignorant of.

Our borders have shrunk as what happens anywhere soon impacts us one way or another. Drought or pestilence faraway is also a source of worry. We consume items from far and wide; in a way, we look at where they come from and what to avoid, just in case! Though at a pinch, some cheaper produce come handy and we do let the guard down! But humanity triumphs in the end with the blurring of all boundaries. The essence of oneness is manifest. Water by any other name is just as essential to all species including for those we perceive around us and even for those we are oblivious of!

Subconscious Goal - Peace of Mind

We start running from the word go! We have no time to lose! All are in a catch-up mode, a herd mentality basically. The whole creation is never static even for a nanosecond! We are taken to new destinations, even while sound asleep. Someone is in the driving seat without taking a moment’s rest ensuring a safe journey. We do our bit and that also adds to the whole process! We may be insignificant but still a part of the whole. It is up to us to engage ourselves whole-heartedly so that at the end of the day we leave with a job well done! Whether we get another role, well, that depends on our beliefs for the time being!

We have no control where we are born, who our parents are and our society’s beliefs. Mostly, we accept what is given and unfortunately also reject violently some others’ points of view! We tend to forget that they also are entitled to their opinions and beliefs, leading to skirmishes that have the potential to cause much misery to no avail. It is worse than animal instincts as they just protect their territory but we tend to impose our will too!

In our subconscious minds, we want peace of mind – live and let live. But we are easily deceived, taken for a ride. When our stomachs are full or empty, we look for trouble. We want to assert ourselves over others, become greedy and try to needle others, eye what is within their territory. Things soon go overboard. Gandhi’s words resonate in our every day life – we have everything to meet our needs, but not the greed!

If only we remembered some basics, we could have enjoyed heaven right here. That could have been the intention of the Creator. He gave us a clean slate – we came at the right time when the hideous dinosaur era was past and we could easily assert our superiority over other species, lord over them. We have fuel in abundance, fossilized over billions of years and then through our ingenuity, endless from the sun. No wonder some worship our sun as a powerful God, we can tap its energy to find new worlds!

Overcome Negativity

All these endless possibilities are stymied by our negative attitudes, unable to find unity within us. We are given endless realms, able to observe and learn from other species as to how they have survived for periods longer than us. For making real progress, we need to find the very basic – peace of mind – the rest should follow. When we are led by greed, tend to find meaning by bringing down others and live on endless suspicion, we just regress – one step forward, soon back. And then getting addicted to short term gains, few manipulating the systems to impoverish the majority!

Modern media is replete with analysis of what is wrong, but we just refuse to take the needed next step. Maybe, we need some hand-holding from some superior force. When we see the writing on the wall, we can as well take that step ourselves. Why wait for someone that can have negative implications too? We may have to forfeit our place at the top of the pecking order. But evolution could be unforgiving and will not wait forever for us to put our house in order! Let us work towards peace of mind through unity in diversity as the basic step, and then the rest should follow. Carpe diem; it is time indeed!

The real key to the demise of the human race, is apathy. People feign concern all the time. Thank you for placing this crucial issue under the proverbial microscope.

Thanks indeed, Tranquilpen, for your pointed comments. We are just delaying justice to the disadvantaged and missing so much between the cup and the lip - what a criminal waste of time and resources! - siva

What a well written article this is Sivar! I wonder if the human race will take note though, as Andre said apathy runs rife and that has to change before anything else does.. A really good article my friend..

Thanks for your thought provoking comments, Songbird. I worry whether we really appreciate the progress we have achieved through so much sacrifices of our earlier generations. We manage to put out the fires just in time - siva
