What is a Blog?

For those not familiar with blogs, essentially a blog is a type of website. Blogs are provided by with blog providers such as Word Press and Blogspot, which have a number of blog template and options for users to make posts to their blogs.

Setting up a blog is simple enough. As mentioned, blog providers such as Blogspot or Word Press can be registered with. These are free blog providers, and have a variety of tools and options to set up a blog. In addition to these, some blog providers have a fee for further options. Overall, there is a selection of templates for blogs and then some formatting options for posts such as bold, italic fonts and also pictures can be added.

Typically, blogs have a number of posts added which update the blog. At the bottom of these posts comments or feedback can be given on any post made. Posts added can be on a variety of topics, or some may prefer to be more specific to a specific subject.

The flexibility of blogs allows for further customization. Counters and banners can be added to blogs, along with other features. In addition to this, there are various settings that are also included with blogs. Settings such as for formatting, comments and archiving.

As such blogs are flexible, and can also be of some variety. Some have more personal blogs, while other blogs are more business orientated. Of course, blog subjects are also variable.

As mentioned, blogs can be set up as business blogs. Some blogs can have commercial potential, with ad banners included.

Blogs can also have content added by a group, as opposed to just one. Group blogs may be updated by a number of contributors. A good example is the Amateur Golfer blog.

Most blogs do not generate great interest. A good number may be somewhat inactive and are not updated. However, there are some that are active, often updated with comments and feedback.

For further details on blogs, it is best to visit a blog website. Of those mentioned here, Blogspot and WordPress are worth noting.

Overall, blogs have emerged as a good alternative to websites and web-pages. After all, they do not require any HTML or publishing software to establish. In addition to this, the best blog providers have a number of options and features for blogs. As such, blogs are a preference for many.
