What to Avoid When Using a Razor

The last time I shaved, I cut myself to such an extent that I recieved a month-old bloody scar. If you wish to avoid that, better follow these instructions or else you might end up in an even worse situation.

Applying the Cream

First of all, rinse your face with water for at least a minute to reduce any rough spots.
Wait a few seconds and then apply the shaving cream in your palm and spread it across the lower half of your face.
Don't spread too much across one part of your face. Why?
Because it's waste of shaving cream! Try to keep it thin.

Once you have applied the shaving cream across your face, wait for two minutes for the facial hair to soften to avoid scratches. Then bring out the razor.

If you look at the picture on the top right carefully, you would see that I am holding a bloody tissue paper in my hand. That was the fifth tissue paper I had used to stop the bleeding.

The Mistake I Made

Take the razor and place it at the area behind the ear.
And then, slowly bring it down across your cheek towards your lip. The moment the razor is closest to the lip, stop. Place the razor back below the ear and bring it down the same path i.e. across your cheek towards your lip.
Remember, do not rush yourself. It may result in a cut. And don't change the surface of your skin upon which you are shaving on. Keep your skin smooth and without any bumps. Any uneven skin surface would be more prone to cuts.

Just look at my picture. Those red spots are blood. It may seem very small but that's just the blood. The cut itself was pretty big and everytime I touched it, not only did it hurt more but it bled more too.
The one near the chin bled to a large extent while the one next to my lip didn't bleed as much.
I was in a hurry to shave and while I was shaving from my lip down to the edge of my chin, and that in haste, I accidentely cut my chin.
I only felt a slight itch but when I took a look at the razor, I saw small pieces of skin on the razor. It was jelly-like and it didn't wash easily.
I then looked at my chin in the mirror and saw that it was bleeding quite alot even though the cut was very small.
I washed it away, suffering from a severe sting when the water came in contact with the cut.
But then once again, the blood seeped out of my cut again and I again washed it away, ending up with another wave of a severe sting.
But the bleeding still didn't stop. I spent every five seconds wiping away the blood.

I then just decided to resume shaving. I applied another layer of shaving cream, this time across my mouth over the moustache.
I wiped the cream away from my lips. I then proceeded to shave downwards from the edge of my lip. The surface must've been uneven because I experienced another cut, this time smaller.
But I was more focused on my first cut to bother about the second one. I used up my fifth tissue paper to wipe up the blood. The bleeding had reduced but it didn't cease.
With least haste as possible, I finished shaving and applied aftershave on my face. As one would expect, it stung!

Will it Heal?

I still have the scar on my cheek. I don't know if it would ever heal or not. But I'm just glad the wound isn't too deep.
Just remember that if you plan to use a razor, make sure you are not in a rush.
Or else, you could use the electric razor if otherwise.

Nice picture.
I dont think you will be
marked for life.
Just keep the razor paralell to your skin
and you wont get cut.
Slide it over your face.
Dont plough it.

I still have a scar on my leg from shaving the first time.
I also, was in a rush.
I was told by my mom I was not allowed to shave yet, I was too young.
I didn't listen.
I went in the bathroom and tried to hurry up, while my mom and sister went to the store for a quick pick up of milk.
I took a big chunk out of my leg and 35 years later, I still have the scar.
You are so right, do not hurry.
