Photographers make trips to a variety of destinations. Wherever you are traveling for your photography trip, there are a few things that you should pack along with your digital camera. These are some of the more essential bits and pieces to bring with you on the trip.

A Destination Guidebook

It may be handy to bring a destination guidebook with you if possible. A destination guidebook will provide additional details on some of the more specific locations that you can visit, and where you can take some photos. They can also include maps which are always handy to have. The DK travel guidebooks are worth noting as they are well illustrated with photos of their own.

A Camera Battery Charger

Your digital camera battery could run out when on the trip, even if it is fully recharged before you leave. As such, you'll need something such as USB cradle to recharge your battery with if required. The only other alternative would be to pack a replacement battery.

A Camera Bag

A bag for your digital camera should also be packed with the camera. A digital camera bag can include various additional compartments for other camera accessories. They should provide all weather cover for your digital camera, and can come in different shapes and sizes depending on your own camera size.

Lens Cloth

A lens cloth for camera lenses should also be packed. These are microfibre cloths with which you can wipe your camera lense down. Ideal for when it rains, or a beach side sandstorm perhaps?

Bring a couple of smaller size memory cards with you. As such, two smaller four megabyte memory cards would be better than one larger eight megabyte card for your camera. If you lose one of your memory cards, then you will have another backup memory card at hand to store further digital photos.

There are also quite a few portable devices that you can back up your photos to. Among them are iPods. Bring an iPod as you can also dump your photos on it. Another advantage is that the iPod has its own display options for photo libraries.

Additional Lenses for SLR and DSLR Cameras

One of the advantages of these cameras are that they have interchangeable lenses. With these cameras you can attach different lenses such as prime lenses, zoom lenses and macro lenses for more specific shots. As such, if you have such cameras then it can be good to have some suitable additional lenses at hand for a photography trip.

These are just a few suggestions as to what you could pack for your photography trip, along with your camera. You could pack some, or all, of these accessories for the trip if possible. Then you can take plenty of more effective photos on the trip.
