The debate about which is more important, intelligence quotient (IQ) or emotional quotient (EQ) was rolling since many years ago and probably will not end because of these two things are very important in our lives, because of the maturity of IQ and EQ will determine our success in future.

What is Intelligence Quotient (IQ)?

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is a measure of a person's intelligence quotient obtained from several kinds of tests in a certain scale, such as the Stanford-Binet scale, scale Cattell or multiple tests by using different reference scale. IQ test results are usually used in many contexts, among others, as a predictor of the level of education or special needs.

Many people argue that if a person has an intellectual or intelligence (IQ) high is a guarantee of success in the future rather than lower. They found people who had higher IQ normally do well in school, often making more money and tend to be healthier. That is why most school curricula in certain countries are more concerned IQ than EQ.

What is Emotional Quotient (EQ)?

Emotional Quotient (EQ) is a measure of a person's ability to cope or to regulate emotions in one and in others. This capability includes the ability to motivate oneself, empathy for others, the ability to express and understand your feelings, understand the feelings of others, anger control, adaptability and self-reliance, the ability to solve a problem and perseverance, a sense of solidarity and respect.

Emotional Quotient (EQ) can also be called social skills or social intelligence. Namely, an ability to socialize and network with others.

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) vs. Emotional Quotient (EQ)

There are some significant differences between IQ and EQ. Here are some differences between them:

1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is easier to be measured by using a certain size and scale, while the Emotional Quotient (EQ) is more difficult to be measured by using a certain size and scale.

2. Intelligence Quotient (IQ) has a more narrow scope as it deals with the mathematical analysis and engineering, while the Emotional Quotient (EQ) has a broader scope because it deals with the analysis of emotions and social relationships.

3. Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is closely related to academic intelligence and intellectual analysis, while the Emotional Quotient (EQ) is closely related to emotional intelligence to manage and make decisions related to attitudes and behavior.

4. Intelligence Quotient (IQ) will tend to stagnant or can not develop, while the Emotional Quotient (EQ) can develop a lifetime.

Which is More Important, IQ or EQ?

The answer is nothing more important. Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) are equally important in our lives. Although each person has a level of IQ and EQ are different, because both of these things will help us to get a better life in the future if properly managed. Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) as two sides of a coin which has the same purpose, there is nothing more important than others in life.

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) can be called an intelligence of the mind, whereas Quotient Emotional (EQ) can be referred to an intelligence of heart.

Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) are two things that should be developed early on to establish a better personality.
