Since I work in retail I try to get Thanksgiving Day off since my store is open on that day. These our my reasons why I enjoy Thanksgiving Day.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

One of things that I look forward to each year when I am off from work on Thanksgiving is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I enjoy watching the floats the balloons and the entertainers (singers, dancers, etc.) that are in the parade on television. The actual parade is in New York City and shown live on NBC. For sample of the parade click here.

Football

There is another thing that has been a tradition in my home is watching football on Thanksgiving Day. The games that host football each year are the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys. Both of these teams will be hosting different teams at their stadium. There is a third game of the day which usually involves two different teams each year for the last five years. This would be the sixth year of having two different teams playing for the third game.

History of the sport playing on Thanksgiving Day started in 1920. For the results for all scores in football since 1920 click here

Turkey Dinner

Another tradition in my home is that is having a traditional turkey dinner with the all fixings. All the fixings that are served at my home is turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, mash potatoes with gravy, cheesy hash browns, and another desert. The dinner always turns out great and always having our fair share to eat. Even our dogs get a little thanksgiving meal out the deal. Saying a prayer before the meal is always a must in our home.
