Many freelance writers use voice recognition software to make their jobs easier. With the release of Windows 7, the OS eliminates the need for additional software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking by including Windows Speech Recognition

What? I Can't Use DNS with Windows 7

I nearly screamed the words when I found out I couldn't use my favorite speech recognition program (Dragon Naturally Speaking) with my new Windows 7 laptop. I had become quite accustomed to being able to multitask by doing housework while moving about the room talking to my laptop. It actually took me a while to get used to typing my articles and blog posts again. But I adapted, and was waiting impatiently for a new DNS version to be released that would work with Windows 7.

Windows 7 Has What?

Imagine my surprise when my better half informed me that his new laptop had voice recognition software included. First I was angry because I thought it was part of his computer deal and that I didn't get it. Then I was thrilled when he told me that it is a Windows 7 feature.

How to Access Windows Speech Recognition

  1. Click Start
  2. Click All Programs
  3. Click Accessories
  4. Click Ease of Access
  5. Click Windows Speech Recognition

Once you select the program the first time it will give you options to use the tutorial and set your program up to understand your speech pattern and to learn the specific commands you must use with Windows Speech Recognition.

Eliminates the Need for Dragon Completely!

With all the great features of Windows 7 you can imagine the freedom and ease of use that the Windows Speech Recognition will offer you. Easily navigate through your programs, documents and images as well as voice commanding your online activities. Just imagine hands free blogging, hands free article submissions, hands free emails! It boggles the mind just how much more advanced this included Windows 7 program is over the high priced DNS software I purchased less than 2 years ago.

In fact I just wrote this whole page using my voice!
