Reality of life is that there are impossible things for every individual and under certain circumstances. However, the same things may be possible for others or even for the same individuals under different circumstances. We need to accept this fact to save us from unavoidable stresses of achieving the impossible.

Even Napoleon Failed

Statement ‘Impossible is the word in the dictionary of fools’ is attributed to Napoleon conveying a message to human-beings that there is nothing impossible for anybody to achieve. Of course, this has never been true since the known origin of human life, yet people seem to appreciate the concept, just as an ideology. I vehemently decry the idea, adding that Napoleon might have said so under some specific circumstances of war or with an ulterior motive of boosting morale of his generals. The result is for all to see that he did not achieve much of what he expected.
Reality of life is that there are impossible things for every individual and under certain circumstances. However, the same things may be possible for others or even for the same individuals under different circumstances. We need to accept this fact to save us from unavoidable stresses of achieving the impossible.

Pursuing the Feasible

In all situations, where achievement seems feasible, there are four possible options open for a person to pursue –
1. Keep on working with worries for outcome of the efforts,
2. Keep on working with confidence in own performance for getting the desired results,
3. Not to work for uncertainty of outcome but keep on worrying for the future,
4. Not to work and not to worry, let anything happen in future.
5. Out of these options, it is obvious that the second one is the right option for one to pursue.
In-spite of self-confidence and all the well-intentioned efforts, the desired results may not be achieved for circumstantial factors or miscalculations in planning, this should not be a reason for getting disheartened and give up working with surrender to fate or to circumstances. Just pause for some time, get rejuvenated for making efforts again with improved planning and better understanding of circumstances.

Wishes Impossible

Me at 67 and self-employed for the last 25 years now, a friend suggested to me to find an employment in USA and move out of hell-like life in India for good. The advice seemed dreamy to me even then I applied for some jobs, but was not considered for any for my advanced age. I understand the employer’s viewpoint and feel that I should not expect any employment now and so have compromised with my situation. Another option to me is to keep on applying and worrying about getting an employment.
The lesson from this instance is that in case some wish seeming impossible to be fulfilled, the person must look for other feasible options instead of harping on the impossible wish and getting under a heap of disappointments and worries resulting there from. There are always feasible options available for everyone under all circumstances. This, however, may mean disciplining the impossible wishes through a realistic approach.

The Sure Test

Let us realize the reality, there are impossibilities existing in life due to practical limitations of individuals under specific circumstances and stop worrying for achieving what is impossible. Look out for feasible things and proceed on.
Before deciding to do or doing anything, there is one sure test of moving ahead in the right direction. Just consider what might be the consequences of the proposed action of yours, and then decide things according to your capability of taking risk or facing the uncertainty. In all circumstances, this unique test shows you a mirror-like image of the possible outcomes and leads you in the right direction. The only thing you must take care is to avoid getting worried, as this lowers one’s performance quality and therefore leads to more worries of failures.
